I’m Aida, an artist based in Antwerp, Belgium, creating work inspired by my love for our mother earth.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved to draw. It all began at my grandmother’s dining table, where she would spoil her grandkids with lots of pencils, paint and paper, always encouraging my imagination with so much enthusiasm. That love never left me. I kept drawing, creating little stories and worlds and somehow, I never really stopped.

I’m fascinated by our universe where everything is connected through spirit, people, animals, plants, the earth micro/macro, its natural elements and God. Through my work, I attempt to explore these connections in those otherworldly scenes that invite us to look a little deeper.

The scenery often start with an element and feeling that appears unexpectedly and that I feel drawn to capture on paper. Other times I simply start creating and allow the work to reveal itself along the way..

I work freely across materials, combining my favorite: watercolour pencils with acrylics, markers, oils, textured paste, metallic leaf and more. Choosing whatever feels right for the piece as it opens up.
